December “en Provence”
Now is the time to harvest the last fruit of the year: olives.
We always call it « La Récolte des Amis », since good friends come and help. Starting right after a coffee with “banket staaf” (a very Dutch Christmas treat). After a hot lunch bringing vigour when the sun is warm, we work until the sun settles behind the hill and the evening chill starts. We then finish the day with tea in front of the fireplace.
We have English very lightweight and VERY stable ladders (Henchman). We need to pick at least 200 kilos to get our own olive oil back from the cooperation « La Solidarité » of Entrecasteaux. If not, the harvest is mixed with those of our neighbours. Of course, we do what we can to attain the necessary weight within the minimum amount of time 😊
In between of all this, we do go and replenish the French soaps stock as well as trying to find the special requests for those that have asked.
